Bournemouth Interior Designer Wins Vegan Award

VEGAN food and vegan clothing went mainstream some years ago. Now a Dorset businesswoman aims to do the same for our homes.

Helen Winters of Bournemouth-based Coral Interiors has become the first UK interior designer to be certified by an international website for avoiding the use of animal products in her work.

VeganDesign.org, the US-based ethical interior design resource certified

Helen for her stance on using animal products in her work, naming her its 'Designer of the Month'.

“As an animal loving vegan this is a really important award for me,” said Helen, who enjoys walking her white German Shepherd Luna along Bournemouth beach. “I like to know that the products I use in my designs have been sourced humanely."

She said she chose 'healthier faux alternatives' in place of highly treated fabrics that don’t contain poisonous chemicals adding: "I'm currently the only interior designer in Dorset and the south west to be certified in vegan, cruelty-free design.”

Before becoming an interior designer, Helen worked in London in investment banking IT.

Her company has been trading since 2014 and has worked with over 30 clients on both home staging and interior design.
