Kelli O\'Hara To Return To Broadway In 2019 Revival Of \'Kiss Me, Kate,\' Following West End Debut With \'King And I\'

The newly assembled creative team will include David Rockwell (sets), Jeff Mahshie (costumes), Donald Holder (lighting), Brian Ronan (sound), and David Brian Brown (hair and wig design).

"Kiss Me, Kate" centers on a pair of self-centered divorced performers who end up starring opposite each other in a musical version of Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew." The revival will premiere 20 years after the last Broadway production, which starred Brian Stokes Mitchell and Marin Mazzie.

O'Hara, who recently performed in Metropolitan Opera's "Cosi fan tutte," is reprising her Tony-winning performance as Anna Leonowens opposite Tony and Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe's King in the West End engagement of "The King and I." Playbill reports that previews begin June 21 ahead of an official opening July 3 at the London Palladium.

O'Hara's husband, musician and filmmaker Greg Naughton, stopped by our NewsOK studio last week during Oklahoma City's deadCenter Film Festival, where his musical road trip movie "The Independents" was playing. In addition to talking about the film and his band, Naughton chatted about his wife's London preparations and their family's plan to spend the summer in England while she is performing on the West End.
