ENGLAND dramatically entered the semi-final after comfortably seeing off Sweden 2-0 last Saturday.
Now the Three Lions will face Croatia, fighting for a place in the final following a penalty shoot-out against rivals Russia.
While many eyes were unsurprisingly drawn to the stunning Swedish footballers’ wives and girlfriends in the run-up to their game against Southgate’s Three Lions squad, their men clearly couldn’t match up to the fitness of their women.
With Sweden out of the running, we present the top Croatian players’ Wags – who will hopefully be consoling their blokes come Wednesday night…
The Eurovision singer
Franka Batelic is the stunning girlfriend of captain Vedran Corluka – and she’s a superstar singer in her native Croatia.
The 26-year-old beauty rose to fame after winning the first series of Showtime, a reality TV talent show similar to X Factor, in 2007.
And it wasn’t the only show she’s won – she came first on the fourth series of Ples sa Zvijezdama – the Croat version of Dancing With The Stars in 2009.
Talented Franka supported Beyonce when she performed in Croatia’s capital Zagreb in 2013, and was Croatia’s entry in this year’s Eurovision with her song Crazy.
Although she made it to the semi-final, she came 17th so she didn’t get to perform the tune at the contest’s final in Lisbon.Wags of the World Cup - Who is your favourite?
She’s not just got a good set of pipes on her – clever Franka studied at the Zagreb College of Law and completed an English Language course at London South Bank University.
Franka is also an LGBT and animal rights activist, and was the face of the Croatian 2009 Animal’s Friend campaign.
The cheating childhood sweetheart
Like our very own Harry Kane and Katie Goodland and Jordan Pickford and Megan Davison, Dejan Lovren and wife Anita are childhood sweethearts.
The pair have been together since they were 16, and married in 2012.
They went on to have two children, Elena and Josip.
However, unlike Kane and his squeeze, who have been praised for being scandal-free, their relationship has been dogged with problems in recent years.
A 2016 Sun on Sunday exposé was published detailing an affair between Anita Lovren and an old friend, forestry worker Dario Torbic, who allegedly swapped hundreds of love messages with her.
Anita was reportedly furious at the scoop, giving the middle finger to reporters.
And the pair were said to be speaking to divorce lawyers.
However, they have since patched things up following a ‘make or break’ holiday to France.
And Anita’s been cheering on her man from the sidelines in Russia – just as well, as he missed the 2016 Euros thanks to the revelations.
The Shakira Lookalike
Midfielder Mateo Kovacic’s stunning wife Izabel bears more than a passing resemblance to fellow footballer Gerard Pique’s squeeze, singer Shakira, and she’s often been compared to her in the Croatian press.
Like the Hips Don’t Lie star, Izabel is something of a social media sensation, with more than 300,000 fans following her on Instagram.
There, she posts scorching selfies as well as endless photos of her enjoying glam nights out with her equally stunning pals.
Her posts give her fans a snapshot into her life with hubby Mateo, who she married in June 2017.
The pair, who had been dating for a number of years, tied the knot in the Croatian village of Sesvetski, where they originally met.
This was followed by celebrations at the Westin Hotel in the Croatian capital city of Zagreb.
Mateo was pleased as punch, posting a wedding snap to Instagram with the caption: “My past, my present, my future! #myeverything”.
And having bagged a stunner like Izabel, who can blame him?
The REAL playmaker
One of the stars from Croatia’s side this World Cup has been midfielder Luka Modric – and, as his agent, he has a lot to thank wife Vanja Bosnic for.
When her man secured a £30m transfer fee to go to Real Madrid in 2012, 35-year-old Vanja was the woman behind the deal.
The pair met in 2007, when Vanja was working at Mamic sports agency – Modric was one of their clients.
They married three years later in Croatia, and have three kids: Ivano, Ema, and Sofia.
However, brainy Vanja, who has a degree in Marketing and Management, prefers to be behind the scenes.
Unlike many of the other WAGs she doesn’t have an Instagram accounts and keeps schtum about her private life.
The barmaid who was asked out 30 times

It sounds like something straight out of a Hollywood film – Raquel Mauri met her husband Ivan Rakitic when she served him coffee in a hotel bar.
Midfielder Rakitic even detailed their 2011 meeting in a 2017 article for The Player’s Tribune called “A Croatian Guy Walks into a Bar”, where he describes everything slowing down as he glimpses the Spanish beauty.
“I don’t know how to explain it. Sometimes, you meet someone and you just have a different feeling.
“Whenever I saw her, it was like a bomb went off inside me,” romantic Rakitic wrote.

He asked her out “20 or 30 times” before she finally said yes, and the rest is history.
The pair married in 2013, and have two children together, with Raquel often sharing family photos on Instagram to her half a million followers.
After the Barcelona terror attack last August, Rakitic revealed he could have been caught up in the middle of it had it not been for Raquel.
The FC Barcelona player said him and his family had planned to go to Las Ramblas, where the attack occurred.
But Raquel told him that it was a good day and that it would be better for them to take their daughters Althea and Adara to the park outside their house.
“Thank God I listened,” he said at the time.
“We were three or four minutes from the place where this horror happened.”
The topless model who love Topshop
Saucy Adriana Durdevic recently posted a topless photo of herself bearing the Croatian flag and her partner Duje Caleta-Car’s number on her Instagram.
Accompanied with the caption “we are a team because we respect, trust and care for each other”, it was clearly a way to help her defender boyfriend relax before a big game.
The Croatian beauty, 27, is an avid user of Instagram, where she can be seen flaunting her toned body in a series of bikinis.
Model and law graduate Adriana does sometimes keeps her clothes on too.
She shares her “outfits of the day” with her fans as she strikes model poses in front of beautiful buildings in Salzburg, Austria, where her man plays for most of the year.
And some are even from the British High Street, with Topshop being a particular favourite.

She also loves to travel, and has uploaded photos of herself in front of tourist hotspots such as The London Eye, Piazza San Marco in Venice, Amsterdam’s Dam Square, the Zagreb Christmas market.
And of course from the World Cup in Russia.
Let’s hope her and her man, who is five years younger than her, will have the time for a big holiday together once the tournament is over.
The brainy Professor
Goalkeeper Danijel Subasic’s wife Antonija Bozza has brains as well as beauty – she’s reportedly a Professor.
The pair met and began dating 16 years ago after meeting on their Philosophy course at university.
The couple married in 2007, and now live in Monaco for most of the year, where Subasic plays, with their daughter.
They are both secretive, and have managed to avoid unfavourable headlines.
